Zhenyu Cai
I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computing at Imperial College London, where I lead the Quantum Error Control group. I hold an EPSRC Quantum Technologies Fellowship and am also affiliated with the company Quantum Motion. I also hold a Visiting Fellowship at the University of Oxford.
Before joining Imperial, I held an EPSRC fellowship in Engineering Science at Oxford and was a Junior Research Fellow in Physics at St John’s College, Oxford. I completed my DPhil in Quantum Technologies at the University of Oxford and my MSci and BA in Natural Sciences (Physics) at the University of Cambridge.

My work has been accepted for talks at QIP, QCTiP, TQC, AQIS and QEC. Invited conference presentations include TartanQEC at the University of Edinburgh (2026), a keynote at WERQSHOP 2k25 in New York (2025), Quantum Innovation in Tokyo (2023 and 2025), and the invited opening talk at the QEM session at APS March Meeting (2024). Invited lectures include the Benasque Spring School for Near-Term Quantum Computing (2026), IBM Quantum Computing Masterclass (2024) and the Quantum Hubs Summer School (2023).
